Arvind launches its IInd ‘Megamart Outlet Centre’ in Pune
Megamart, the retail arm of India’s largest integrated textile manufacturer and a leading branded apparel & retailer, Arvind Ltd. today announced the launch of its second ‘Megamart Outlet Centre’ in Pune, the first being in Chennai.
The new look store, located at Dapodi, Near CME, Old Bombay-Pune Highway, will now offer customers a bigger and better value shopping experience. With over 150 best brands spread across 55,000 sq ft of retail space, Megamart will delight its customers with its proposition of mega discounts throughout the year. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. J Suresh, CEO – Arvind Brands & Retail said, “The Pune Outlet Centre is bigger and has more offerings than our immensely successful first Megamart Outlet Centre in Chennai which goes to show how important the West and specifically the Pune market is for us. Aimed at bringing together a great combination of international shopping experience at value prices along with ambiences at par with some of the best retail chains of the world, the Megamart Outlet Centre is all set to be a complete delight for the Pune customers”.
The Pune Outlet Centre will house a gamut of categories including men, women and kids wear, accessories, luggage, footwear etc. from leading brands such as Allen Solly, Adidas, Arrow, Citizen, Color Plus, Dockers, Titan, Giodorno, Indian Terrain, Lee, Levis, Louis Phillipe, Nike, Park Avenue, Reebok, Scullers, Van Heusen, Wrangler and several other leading brands at unbelievable value prices and offers.
Apart from these, the Outlet Centre also has a multi-cuisine food court – St. Marche, Café Coffee Day, The Mobile Store and several other value-added services like a kids play area, a mama’s corner; among many others.
Megamart also has a very unique concept called ‘The Marketplace’. At the Marketplace the consumer is sure to find the best deals and the cheapest branded products and accessories in the city.
Megamart will offer fantastic value across a range of categories through-out the year and an international shopping experience. “The Megamart Outlet Centre is positioned as a shopping destination offering mega brands & guaranteed mega savings,” said Mr. K E Venkatachalapathy, COO, Megamart.
To provide the best of service to customers, Megamart has also invested heavily in training the fashion assistants who will be manning the Outlet Centres. These fashion assistants called the ‘Red Squad’ will help customers find the best deals and make the right choices. To set a whole new bench mark in the value retail space, Megamart has also put in place a very structured training program and incentive structure.
Megamart, for the first time will also be plying a bus at important routes around Pune to pick up and drop customers wanting to shop at the Outlet resulting in significant savings in time and fuel costs for customers. The Mega Savings bus will be flagged off by Miss India 2002 Neha Dhupia soon after she launches the Outlet Centre this evening.
The store has been designed by JHP London in association with OrangeTip Designs from Bangalore. JHP had also designed the new identity of Megamart. “Our Oulet Centre in Chennai recently won the 3M’s prestigious ‘Most Outstanding Signage in the Country’ award,” added Mr. Venkatachalapathy.
Megamart has also made sizeable investments in information technology. It has partnered with Oracle Retail for an integrated scalable platform to manage its retail processes from supply chain to stores. “This will help the company increase its inventory turns, improve its forecast accuracy, enable shorter replenishment lead times and overall improve its service levels,” added Mr. Suresh. Megamart is also the first value retailer in the country to invest in high-end IT solution when it adopted Oracle Retail, ‘the best-in-class ERP solution’ to strengthen its IT backbone. Oracle Retail, is one of the world’s leading provider of enterprise applications to retailers and seven out of the top 10 global retailers run on this platform and 12 out of the 13 Fortune 100 companies that are retailers run Oracle Retail applications.
These solutions will help the company roll out stores faster and support its aggressive growth plans as it seeks to achieve leadership in fashion and value retailing in India. “Megamart plans to establish more than 250 large and small format stores across the country – out of which 25 to 30 will be Megamart Outlet Centres in top 20 cities – over the next 3 to 4 years at an investment of over US$ 100 million,” said Mr. Suresh.
“Our Pune store will be one of the largest value malls in the city. Keeping in mind Pune’s value conscious and discerning consumers we are very happy to dedicate our second Outlet Centre to the people of Pune. We already have 6 Megamart stores (with an area of 2,000 to 4,000 sq ft) in Pune and 16 stores in Maharashtra; Mumbai-8, Nagpur-1, Nashik-1. Megamart currently has 93 stores across the country and all of them are doing well,” added Mr. Venkatachalapathy. To kick off the launch, Megamart is also running fantastic inaugural offers (Buy 1 & Get 1) across the weekend and other fabulous deals throughout the month.
