3i Infotech, a global provider of IT solutions and the fourth largest Indian Software Product company*, has been awarded a “Capability Approval Certificate” by the STQC (Standardisation, Testing & Quality Certification) Directorate, Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of India. This certification is the first of its kind, among IT companies doing work in e-governance in India.

STQC recently launched the “Website Quality Certification Scheme”, based on International / National standards for both Public and Private Websites, to fulfill the needs of the developers and users for a website quality certification. STQC used broad integrated engineering based evaluation methods for the assessment and comparison of the complex website quality scheme.

The scheme is based on two parameters:

Ø International Standard (ISO/IEC 23026:2006 Software Engineering – Recommended Practice for the Internet – Web Site Engineering, Web Site Management, and Web Site Life Cycle).

Ø Guidelines for Indian Government Websites developed by National Informatics Centre, Department of Information Technology, Government of India.

The scheme had two broad categories for Certification:

Ø Capability Approval Certification – provided to the Company for having a capability to develop websites as per the guidelines in the scheme.

Ø Website Quality Certification – Provided to a website/portal as per the guidelines of the Scheme.

The Capability Approval Certification has been awarded to 3i Infotech for their capability to develop websites as per the guidelines in the scheme formulated by the Government.

The scheme will provide users the confidence that best practices have been followed by the companies in respect of quality, security, legal compliance and ethical requirements, along with other key requirements for the engineering and management of websites.
