Stock markets closed for holiday
MUMBAI: Stock, bond and currency markets are closed on Monday for a local holiday. Trading resumes
on Tuesday. On Friday, the 30-share BSE index fell 2.21 percent to 8,843.21, its lowest close since Jan. 22, and registered its biggest weekly fall since October.
The partially convertible rupee ended at 49.72/74 per dollar on Friday, 0.2 percent weaker than Thursday’s close of 49.62/63. The unit had its biggest weekly fall since the end of December.
A strike by central bank employees disrupted bond trading on Friday. On Thursday, the yield on the most-traded paper, the 8.24 percent 2018 bond , ended at 6.42 percent.
