TCS ranked 10th by Gartner among top TOMS vendors worldwide
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NS), a leading global IT services and business solutions firm, today announced that Gartner ranked the company 7th in North America [1] and 10th worldwide in a new Gartner Dataquest worldwide market share report [2] that ranked the top 50 Telecom Operations Management Systems (TOMS) global vendors based on total telecom revenues and market share for 2006-07.
According to the independent analyst firm worldwide report, TCS received top ten delivery operations rankings for revenue and market share for the operations support system (OSS), business support system (BSS) and next-generation service delivery platform solution areas covering billing and customer management, revenue assurance and fraud management, and online care and self-service.
The worldwide report [2] stated, “The top 50 leading TOMS vendors generated $40.3 billion for 2007 and top 25 vendors generated 50 percent of the revenue in 2007, showing that the market remains fragmented.” This year’s report included revenue data from the solution segments customer billing management, revenue assurance and fraud management, online care/self-service, mediation, provisioning and activation, inventory management, network management, planning and engineering, workforce management and NG SDP.
Ravi Viswanathan, Vice President and Head, Telecom Business Unit, Tata Consultancy Services, said, “We believe TCS’ ranking in these reports reinforces the fact that we continue to deliver excellence in software and services delivery and a market leading portfolio of BSS and OSS solutions that makes us uniquely capable of providing clients a wide array of applications and managing services end-to-end in order to drive maximum business value.”
The Telecom industry practice is the second-largest vertical for TCS, contributing 17.4% of total revenues for FY07-08. With a dedicated pool of more than 8,700 professionals and an accumulated experience of more than 30,000 person years, and ongoing associations with world-class telecom service providers and equipment manufacturers, TCS has acquired unparalleled understanding of the telecom domain.
