    hi cb

in order to avoid unexpected loss. can we go long & short in derivaties (future) & getting ur advice - can we sq. off the profit making position?

for trial i have gone long & short in jindal steel @ 629. pl advice suitable strategy

CB, replies: Hi Malik, you can hedge longs/short with options.. this will help gain some profits.. going long/short in the same stock will take quite some time for you to come out of both trades and at times may get stuck with one for much longer

    hi cb

but the problem with options is its value gets reduced as it is nearing expiry? but futures does not have that problem. what is ur advice?

CB, replies: Hi Malik, yes, options are entered only to reduce losses. if you plan on holding a stock for a specific period (say 1-2 weeks) then this will help you. else you can use other strategies like going long on a front line stock and shorting nifty on the other side
