Hi Kartik,
Today i read a report that says - "NSE to introduce short selling in next few weeks"....but short selling is already there in futures market right?..and also, in cash market where one needs to square off their short position by the end of day....what is this new thing NSE is talking about now?..could you please clarify?

Kartik, replies: Hi Arun, the new feature is some thing differnt, NSE plans to allow investors to borrow shares and then sell them in the cash market through the securities lending and borrowing mechanism. This mechanism was introduced some time ago, but has not picked up. NSE will now introduce a revised mechanism to facilitate short selling, currently its available only for the derivatives segment
