Hi CB,
I am new to future and options markets. I was trying to understand how it works. I got a small doubt(may be silly). I will be grateful to you if you can clarify me this doubt.
Here are the current prices of some NIFTY options (as on 22nd jan)
Exp date. type strike price LTP
28/01/2010 CE 4900.00 134.00
28/01/2010 CE 5200.00 6.85
The person who bought the 1 st option mention above is thinking that the NIFTY will move above 5134(4900+134) and hence buying it.
The person who bought the 2nd option mentioned above is thinking that the NIFTY will move above 5206.85 (5200+6.85) and hence buying it.
Please clarify me whether my thinking is right. I am thinking the premium the buyer of the option pays is nothing but the price at which he buys the option.
But I don't uderstand one thing here. If one is expecting that the NIFTY moves above 5206.85(the 2nd buyer) why don't he buy the first option and make more money?
Please clarify my doubt.
