    Hi Kartik, \CB,
    PLEASE EXPLAIN.........
WHY CHANGE IN OPEN INTEREST IS NEGATIVE FOR 5100 CALL INSPITE OF POSITIVE CLOSING OF IT FROM YESTERDAY CLOSING ........
AND WHY CHANGE IN OI IS POSTIVE FOR 5100 PUT INSPITE OF NEGATIVE CLOSING FOR IT FROM YESTERDAY.
    ISNT IT CONTRADICTORY?
I JUST CANT GET IT ANYWAY AS ONE AND THE SAME THING AND CHANGE IN OI TOTALLY OPPOSITE/

Kartik, replies: Hi SOM, as you might be know that Open Interest is the total number of outstanding contracts that are held by market participants at the end of the day, now it happens to be that the PUTS are held by more traders than CALLS, hope you understand

Hi KARTIK, IN MY ABOVE COMMENT I WANT TO ASK THAT CHANGE IN OI SHOULD BE SAME IN BOTH CASE EITHER WAY.
    AM I RIGHT?
PLEASE GIVE ME ANSWER WITH EXPLANATION.
    THANX.

Hi Kartik, as u say that puts might be held by more traders.........this is ok,
but change in oi is based on previous day closing for any contract
put rate closed at 18 today and closed yesterday at 28
so it declined today(WHY % CHANGE IN OI IS PLUS 10 )?
IF PUTS R HELD BY TRADERS TODAY THEN IT SHOULD BE IN MINUS.
I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT I UNDERSTAND THIS LIKE THIS...........................
PLS CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG.

Kartik, replies: Hi SOM, more the number of puts held (in the sense in delivery) by people, greater will be the open interest and vice-versa, the open interest is based on today's closing, this means that today more put holders were present than sellers, which indicates that today there more more buyers for PUT's than sellers, the price is mainly based on markets and not truely depended on Open Interest. Open Interest just gives us a idea of the total number of contracts actually held by traders, the greater it is, the more will be investment made in it by traders

Hi SOM, I WANT TO KNOW THAT WHAT ROLE IS PLAYED BY STOCK MOVEMENT ON EITHER SIDE FROM PREVIOUS DAY,S CLOSING BY THE CHANGE IN OPEN INTEREST?

Kartik, replies: Hi SOM, more the number of puts held (in the sense in delivery) by people, greater will be the open interest and vice-versa, the open interest is based on today's closing, this means that today more put holders were present than sellers, which indicates that today there more more buyers for PUT's than sellers, the price is mainly based on markets and not truely depended on Open Interest.
