Hong Kong stocks are likely to rise next week, although the city’s benchmark index may not break the 23,000 mark before year’s end, dealers said Friday. For the week ending December 4, the Hang Seng Index was up 6.5 percent to close at 22,498.15 — its biggest weekly percentage gain in six months. Rising optimism for a global economic recovery and shrinking fears about Dubai’s debt problems are likely to push the Hang Seng upward, Ben Kwong, chief operating officer at KGI Asia, told Dow Jones Newswires. Castor Pang, a research director at Cinda International in Hong Kong, said the Hang Seng may climb above the 27,000 mark next year, spurred on by low interest rates and strong liquidity. “But the index won’t crack 23,000 for the reminder of the year due to a lack of catalysts,” he said. afp

Kartik, replies: Hi SIXTH SENSE, thanks for the info
