TCS bags Rs1,000cr Passport Seva Project
MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered into a deal worth over
Rs 1000 crore with the ministry of external affairs for digitising and simplifying the passport issuance process. Under the Passport Seva Project (PSP), the ministry expects new passports to be issued in three days and those under the tatkal scheme the same day.
According to an official release issued by TCS to the BSE today, the pilot project of PSP, the country’s largest mission critical e-governance project, will run on a buy-own-operate-and-transfer (BOOT), and start in 19 months.
The country-wide rollout of PSP will be completed in six years and the government will open 77 passport filing centres across the country.
TCS will have end-to-end responsibility of implementing the scheme. The PSP would digitise the entire passport services and would allow filing of online applications.
