Sensex choppy;Tata Power,Bharti down
MUMBAI: Benchmarks remained subdued Tuesday as traders lacked buying confidence after a sharp upmove in last session. Profit booking in Asian markets also dented sentiments.
At 12:15 pm, Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was at 15883.07, down 41.16 points or 0.26 per cent. The index touched an intra-day low of 15795.69 and high of 16002.46.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was at 4702.85, down 8.55 points or 0.18 per cent. The broader index hit a low of 4672.60 and high of 4731.45.
BSE Midcap Index was up 0.70 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index gained 1.26 per cent.
Amognst the sectoral indices, BSE IT Index was down 1.20 per cent, BSE Healthcare Index slipped 0.83 per cent and BSE Power Index declined 0.46 per cent. BSE Auto Index advanced 1.14 per cent and BSE Metal Index was up 0.91 per cent.
Hindalco Industries (4.62%), Tata Motors (3.77%), Hindustan Unilever (2.28%), State Bank of India (1.49%) and Reliance Industries (1.41%) were amongst the Sensex gainers.
Tata Power (-3.20%), Bharti Airtel (-2.71%), ONGC (-2.18%), ITC (-2.11%), Infosys Technologies (-1.56%) were amongst the Sensex losers.
