India’s First F1 track to be equiped with Siemens Systems
Siemens has won an order of Rs 127 crore from Jaypee Sports International for equipping the country’s upcoming first Formula 1 race track at Noida with electronics race control management systems. This project is scheduled to be completed within the next 10 months.
As per the company, its race control management system will form a critical part of the racing post-installation. The camera, signalling, digital video recording, time keeping, SMATV will be all controlled from this system which will enable the FIA staff to control the race centrally. The track video surveillance system will consist of dedicated closed circuit television that will be set up along the track. These screens will provide images from every part of the circuit, enabling the race controller to keep a watch on the participants in real time. The loops inside the track will detect any car crossing it and send a signal to the main head time keeping system. This information will be used to keep a record of the time and calculate the speed of the cars.
Commenting on the contract, Sameer Gaur, MD and CEO, Jaypee Sports International said, “Siemens was selected because of their excellent track record and company’s capability to execute and deliver extremely sophisticated solutions for the modern racing circuit within the stipulated time-frame. Siemens has a huge experience in executing similar F1 projects.”
Vijay Paranjpe, director, Siemens, on his part said, “Siemens is proud to participate in the development of the country’s first world-class F1 race circuit. As a global leader with a vast experience in numerous F1 race tracks around the world and proven expertise in this sector, this prestigious project provides us with yet another opportunity to bring state of the art sporting systems to India that match international standards.
