Gayatri Projects Ltd (GPL), one of the oldest infrastructure companies based in Hyderabad, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with DLF Limited, the country’s largest real estate major, to develop roads and highway projects across the country worth Rs 1000 crore every year.

GPL and DLF, along with their respective associates, will hold 50 per cent stake each in the joint venture and will synergize their financial and technical strengths to execute any new road projects secured from the NHAI, state governments etc.

“We are glad to associate with the DLF Group – one of the biggest names in construction world today,” said Mr. Sandeep Reddy, Managing Director, Gayatri Projects Ltd after the signing of the MoU. “This strategic tie up will help us expand our foot print nationally, and build on the strengths of two giants to unlock better value for stakeholders. It is a collaboration which provides a perfect fit for our strategy of delivering infrastructure solutions for an emerging India,” he said.

Under the terms of the agreement, the GPL-DLF combine would form new entities to optimally tap the highways development opportunity across the nation. While GPL brings with it a history of over 40 years’ experience in the infrastructure space, DLF has extensive experience of developing large projects.

“This venture is a significant development in our overall growth plan,” said Mr. Rajiv Singh, Vice- Chairman, DLF Limited. “The government too is eager to effectively coordinate and facilitate private investments in the infrastructure, through the PPP (public private partnership) projects route. And this makes the opportunity in the infrastructure sector very attractive, with the demand being extremely strong,” he said.
