Cummins India wins CII’s National Award
The Power Generation Business Unit of Cummins India Limited has won the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Award for Excellence in Energy Management in the category of “Innovative Energy Saving Product / Service” for the third successive year. The award has been conferred upon Cummins for its unique “Power Quality & Adequacy Analysis” service designed to ascertain source and load compatibility. This award was conferred during the “National Award for Excellence in Energy Management” function held in Pune on August 23, 2008.
Cummins has been the recipient of this prestigious award twice in the same coveted category for the last two years. In 2007, the Company received the Award for its Producer Gas Genset, while the Real Time Power Factor Control (RTPFC) system won the Company the CII Award in 2006.
Speaking on the occasion, Beau Lintereur, Vice President, Power Generation Business Unit – Cummins India Ltd. said, “We are extremely delighted as this is the third year in a row that we are receiving this prestigious and coveted award from CII. This award is the result of the promise we make to our customers of being a Dependable partner. It recognizes our efforts in the area of innovation focused on enhancing customer experiences.”
For the first time through this innovative service, Cummins has established a unique methodology to help industry segments arrive at a single reactive compensation for the two sources of power available – Electricity Board and diesel gensets. Up till now the automotive sector was unable to operate their weld shops on diesel gensets in the absence of Electricity Board supply, which in turn was resulting in production losses. This unique service assists them in designing a solution that will enable them to run their welding plants on diesel gensets.
This unique service is expected to contribute to the growth of several industry segments by providing better asset utilization and weld quality, in addition to reducing rejection rates and improving equipment uptime. This service will also help reduce energy costs, in addition to assuring On Time Delivery.
