Ctrl S pioneers India’s 1st Tier IV Data Center
Mr. Sitaram Yechury of the CPI (M) today inaugurated India’s first Tier IV Data Center, built by Ctrl S Data Centers Ltd. at Hyderabad. Dr. (Mrs.) J. Geeta Reddy, Minister for Major Industries, Sugar, Commerce and Exports Promotion, Andhra Pradesh was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Ctrl S Data Centers Ltd. is promoted by the Rs. 500 crore Pioneer Group along with other investors. The Hyderabad based group has over the last 15 years provided IT Services, IT Consulting, Internet Services and IT Infrastructure to customers across the country. Speaking to the press, Mr. P. Sridhar Reddy, CMD of Ctrl S said “We have been in the IT industry for the last 15 years growing by more than 100% every year and believe that this is the right time to invest in the data center business.”
Ctrl S plans to establish more than 7 lakh sq ft of data center space across the country in the next five years. Whereas all the existing data centers in the country are Tier II and Tier III, Ctrl S is building Tier IV data centers, which are the highest category of data centers anywhere in the world. According to Mr. P. Sridhar Reddy, a Tier IV data center with its 99.995% availability provides the highest levels of performance for mission-critical IT systems.
As per information shared by the company, the Hyderabad facility of Ctrl S can host upto 1,000 racks of servers. The company has firmed up plans to expand to Bangalore (2008); Mumbai (2009), Chennai (2009), New Delhi (2010) and other cities building a capacity to host upto 20,000 racks. The company is planning to invest more than Rs. 200 crore over the next twelve months, and expects to have more than 1,000 employees in the next five years.
Mr. P. Sridhar Reddy further added “With our IT background, support of the investors, a highly experienced and talented team, we are confident of achieving our targets by building the world’s best data centers here in India. Our data center team has been involved in setting up IT infrastructure in the country from the very beginning, right from the mainframe era to the latest cutting-edge data centers. We strongly believe that the Indian customer wants the best in the world, and not the Tier III data centers that are currently available.”
The group is associated with the $ 33 billion Och-Ziff Capital, New York, which is amongst the top 5 funds in the world, and with IDBI, the premier Indian financial institution. Ctrl S has already signed up more than 10 customers, including a $ 125 billion, US global telecom giant.
