Bharati Shipyard to build Green Field Shipyard in Dabhol
Bharati Shipyard Limited, one of the leading Private Sector Shipyard, today announced its plan to construct a Green Field modern shipyard at Usgaon near the Dabhol port in Ratnagiri district.
The yard would have the capacity to build vessels upto 100,000 DWT and will be fully operational in the next two years.
Mr. P. C. Kapoor, Managing Director of Bharati Shipyard Limited said: “We are very proud to announce the Green Field Shipyard at Dabhol. The yard will be spread over an area of more than 250 acres. We have already acquired more than 180 acres of land. We are in the process of acquiring balance land.”
The yard is situated inside a creek away from the main sea, which makes it suitable for ship building in all weather conditions. The yard has many other locational advantages including very good water depth, adequate waterfront, scope for further expansion, etc. The civil work and the capex including installation of machineries at the yard has already commenced.
Majority of the machineries and equipments including the Floating Dock of Swan Hunter Shipyard will be set up at Dabhol. The machinery and equipment of Swan Hunter would be optimally utilized at Dabhol and would provide very good synergies, as they are capable of building vessels upto 250,000 DWT.
With the increased shipbuilding capacity, the new shipyard would also help boost allied industries, which are also on a higher growth phase and create job opportunities for more than 3000 people.
