Siemens bags order from SAIL
This is a turnkey project to provide Extra High Voltage Power Distribution package for the captive power plant at the Bokaro Steel facility Siemens Ltd has bagged a turnkey order from Steel Authority of India Ltd. Industrial Solutions (IS) division has bagged a significant order from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) for expansion and modernisation of the Bokaro Steel Plant at Jharkhand.
This is a turnkey project to provide Extra High Voltage Power Distribution package for the captive power plant at the Bokaro Steel facility. The scope of work includes design, supply, civil work, erection, testing and commissioning of 220KV and 132 KV switchyards, which will connect 26 km of 132 KV transmission lines and plant wide substation automation system.
The project worth Rs110bn by SAIL to expand and modernize the Bokaro Steel Plant will enhance the production capacity of the plant’s hot metal from 4.5mn tons to 7.44mn ton and that of crude steel fom 4.36mn tons to 7mn tons whereas the production of saleable steel steel would be enhanced from 3.78mn tons to 6.53mn tons. It will also include setting up of a new steel Melting Shop of 3.8MTPA and a new Cold Rolling Mill of 1.8MTPA.
Simultaneously, the power capacity of the captive power plant will be augumented to 590MW. The project is scheduled to be comissioned by 2011-12.
