Hi K K, Good morning. The option strategy you talked about yesterday is known as short strangle. Its a limited profit unlimited risk strategy. The problem with this strategy in Indian markets is you are required to keep 2 future margins in your trading account. For ex, lets assume the margin for Idea Fut is Rs 44000. Therefore for shorting 1CE you require 44000. For shorting 1PE you require 44000. Net blockage of margin is 88000. Usually this margin is blocked for the T day. On T+1, if the position is still open, brokers will usually release 1 margin, that is 44000. so, net blockage of margin at the end of T+1 is 44000. This is because, the system at the brokers end reflects that both the sold CE and PE hedges each other and the broker releases 1 margin. This may or may not be the case with your broker. Talk to your broker regarding this. As far as the option strategy goes, you can google for more info.
