Hello CB ,
Today I have shorted Amrutanjan Health Care, it rallied and upper circuit was witnessed, so till end of the day i could not buy my shorted stock, i spoked with customer care regarding this n was not clarified, but what info. i got was now it will be purchased in Auction, so pl. tell me how my stock will be treated any idea when auction will take, what penalty will be applied.

Hi Umesh,
if you short a stock and do not cover it the same day, then it will go for auction on the 3rd day. whatever the price of the stock is on the 3rd day, it will be covered at that rate. if it moves higher then you will be at a loss, if it comes down then could profit a bit. but inform your broker about it. some brokers charge 20% of total amt as penalty. if you buy a stock you can keep it for 2-3 days, but you cannot sell a stock and keep it for 2-3 days. ( This is what CB relied to one of us a little earlier.) Hope this helps!
