Hi vipul, Nothing to feel sad about. Everyday you will get ample trading and money making opportunities. Trading psychology says 2 things, viz FEAR and GREED control the mindset of people. For you the most probable scenario was FEAR. Fear that you may lose money. Fear, which tells you that the moment you buy a stock, prices will fall. Now, nobody can teach you how to control FEAR. One option can be to enter stocks in small quantities so that even if you end up in loss, your loss will be minimal. This way, over time, one gains confidence

Looks highly overbought but no technical selling signal generated. Hence, ride the trend for as long as possible. But with each passing day trail the SL. Best option will be to let the SL stop you out

Hi imran khan, First of all 5200 was major resistance which got breached today. But volume support was not there. Highly overbought and parabolic rise. But better not to short now. It may be a case of false breakout or may be genuine. Only time will tell. Next hurdle at 5250. Support at 5170. Better to wait for another day or two. After that we can find a direction, hopefully :) As of now seems dicy to take a directional view for few days

Hi Deepak Bedi, Seems like a shooting star. But it is a bullish shooting star, not a bearish shooting star. Would have been better if it was bearish. Nevertheless, a confirmation candle is needed to predict which will be done on Monday. Also, though shooting star is bearish in nature but not that bearish. It should be used in conjunction with other technical indicators to predict the immediate course of action. If we look at other popular indicators, MACD is in buy mode, strong Histogram. RSI is not at all in overbought territory and is rising. Even Stochastic is a buy. Now if we analyse the intraday chart, price came down from 10 am today but from 2 pm onwards went up and closed above the low made roughly at 2 pm. Also the closing price is above the opening price. This means bear power was countered by the bulls from 2 pm onwards and thats why the shooting star has a bullish candle. The immediate support is at 142.50 which coincides with its 7DMA. Price is well above 7DMA. Then major support at 136.30. We can only think of 125-130 if these two supports are taken out

Hi Abdullah / CB / Kartik... Spent the last 4-5 hours looking at videos on YouTube of how to read a dark could cover and shooting star patterns... On Hindalco's charts there was a dark cloud cover which formed last Thurs and Fri... The bearish pattern was confirmed by a red long candle on Monday... The RBI then came out all guns blazing and cut CRR by 50 bps which stopped the downtrend... Then yesterday there was a shooting star created which works in sync with the dark cloud cover formed last week... Am I correct in reading this or am I just clutching at candle-sticks (pun intended) since I'm holding Hindalco Feb 130 PE (5 lots)... Would love to hear your take on this...Please reply if possible!!

Cb, One doubt during starting of the month in futures few stocks will be in premium(trading at higher) price than compared to the cash segment(spot price). During the expiry surely will all the future prices expire at the same price as that as cash segment?. Irrespective of market condition will this happen?? Pls advise

Hi sunil, cannot be sure about it.. depends on overall market mood.. usually they see selling pressure during expiry and people exit positions in current month and enter next months series.

Cb, I was just trying to take advantage on Cash and futures arbitrage, where the premium will be high at start of month and during the expiry gap would narrow down and would expire at the same price so ur answer is this may not happen every time right?

Hi sunil, Yes gap would narrow down but one can never be sure:
1) Whether spot will go up towards future price to fill the gap OR
2) Future will come down toward spot to fill the gap OR
3) Spot will go up by some points and simultaneously Future will come down by few points to fill the gap.
For arbitraging opportunities, Future prices should be discounted to their present values by simple or continuous compounding methods to see if there is a mismatch. If after that, we find future>spot, sell the future and buy spot OR if we find future<spot, sell the spot and buy future. But most of the times, prices are rational and above mentioned opportunities rarely exist
