SESA GOA: Karnataka High Court upholds iron ore export ban from state; EPS risk of 7% for FY11 and 10% for FY12

- The Karnataka High Court has upheld the state government's decision to ban iron ore exports. Mining companies are planning to appeal in the Supreme Court.

- In the meantime, they will have to continue to curtail production because the high level of tonnage cannot be consumed by the domestic steel producers.

- There may not be much pricing pressure for domestic sales as most miners would rather wait than sell at lower prices because of their sound financial health.

If the mining industry is not able to manage a favorable decision, Sesa Goa stands to lose ~2m tons of iron ore volumes in FY11 and ~3m tons in FY12 leading to EPS cut of 7% and 10% respectively. Without making adjustments for this event, we are estimating EPS of Rs.50.9 and Rs.54.6 for FY11 and FY12 respectively. Sesa trades at FY12E P/E of 6.1x and EV/EBITDA of 2.5x.

I had discussed this before a month with you.... I had locked up with Punj Llyod @ 190 levels and with your suggestion I had averaged it @ 125 levels. Now the stock is well below 100 levels !!!
