Hi Naren, This is the volatility associated with expiry. Institutions are forced to close all their long and short positions. Its difficult to predict option values in such cases.

Hi Aabha, Never overtrade in options. Trading can be very dicy when emotions come into play. Forget the trade. Its already past. We can always recover losses soon. The new update of AutoChannels works on the principle of a very small SL with a large target. So even if we loose in some trades. The trades we gain will give good returns. I will post an article about the new update during the weekend. Lets hope for the best.

Hi Paritosh, I sold at 3:25 as a basket order and my options were traded at 103.4 and 90.3 at a total value of 193.7 bought at a basket price of 194.6 I guess was the price decreased lower due to heavy selling of both options in last few mins. Though the expiry price will still be exercised at 200. If the value had decreased more than 12 points, it would be cheaper to let the options expire even paying excess STT

Hi SR, I read many a times that its better to enter trade in options with max lot of 10 at a time to get the good price, if suddenly the big orders are observed by market maker, the spread increases causing more to pay on buying and lesser returns on selling.

Today market remained very volatile as usual during expiry day.
Tested 5695 & 5705 for couple of times. It's best to wait for some time for clear picture or can initiate longs if nifty crosses 57850/5800 or if dumps below 5600/5550.
I think, medium-term[4-5 months] investors can start buying long positions slowly in every dip. But Am expecting a little correction upto 5600/5550 in next week but not very sure and next week remains very crucial/decisive for markets. Let's C what happens...

Hi Robotguy, 1. Depends on the Charting Software you use. Some softwares provide their own API to develop your own indicators and signals. I use my own software which has been programmed in MS VS 2008. Data feeds can be used from data vendors. If you want, I can provide you a list of registered Data Vendors of NSE or you may develop your own data feed from free sites like Yahoo and Google but with limitations. 2. As for making trading a full time profession is totally your personal choice. You need to be aware of the risks involved. I personally made it my profession and have no regrets today.

I got the following from the NSE in one of the document...

1. Voluntary Exercise
Voluntary exercise is when a Clearing Member exercises an in-the-money index option contract, at his volition, subject to the Rules/ By-laws and Regulations of Clearing Corporation.
2. Automatic Exercise
Automatic exercise is when all in-the-money index option contracts are automatically deemed to be irrevocably exercised , on the Expiration date, subject to the Rules/ By-laws and Regulations of Clearing Corporation.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, if a Clearing Member desires not to exercise an in-the-money index option contract, it shall be the responsibility of such Clearing Member to give appropriate instructions in accordance with Regulation 5A.2(c) 3.

Further, if a Clearing Member desires to exercise an at-the-money index option contract or an out-of-the money index option contract, it shall be the responsibility of such Clearing Member to give appropriate instructions in accordance with Regulation 5A.2.(c) 1.

I thought in the example that you had given, the option was otm and hence need specific instruction if need to be exercised. But still I am not sure if Clearing Member (Brokers) by default send instruction to NSE for auto exercising all options...

I am confused... I have 3-4 options this time which has expired worthless.. Lets see what kind of charges I get from the broker..
