I mean the calls given are mostly false, given at the end of a rally or at the end of the downfall.

Hi 0champ0, You r welcome. Here is some detail info regarding ur query,

The strike price is the price at which the call option gives you the right to buy the stock at, an option once created always has the same strike price as it was created with, you can't sell it at a different strike. There is no way to "rollover" a call option except to buy another call option. Who would buy a call option this close to expiration unless you sold it at a steep discount? The intrinsic value of a call option that's out of the money close to expiration is for all practical purposes zero hence to sell it, you would need to discount it below zero to give the buyer a return.

You're thinking of options as something to buy and sell, you'll lose your shirts doing that. You have to think of options as a way to mitigate the risks of buying and selling stocks. Now if you bought the call option thinking it's something that you can sell at a later date for more then you've missed the boat entirely especially given that the extrinsic value decays as the option approaches expiration. The one thing you are sure of with options is that the speculative component of the pricing (extrinsic value) dwindles to zero with time so why would we buy options to make money speculatively?
When people say they roll over the call option, they are saying that they let their current one expire, losing the premium that they paid for it and buy a new one in order to still have the right to purchase the stock at the desired strike price, of course for them to make money, the stock would have to exceed the strike price by at least the cost of both options added together.

Hi Aabha, No, the same thing applies for put option too. we cannot roll-over the options but can buy next month puts or calls by selling the current month's before expiry.
