Hi Mac, It is not advisable as you can see the risk to reward ratio is high the probability of maximizing your losses are more as compared to that of achieveing profit... During the expiry week, the premium will go on decaying ,suppose on day 1 of expiry 6000 PE is trading at rs 20 when Nifty is 6010 will not be equal to day 2, i.e., 6000 PE on day 2 when Nifty is 6010 wont be equal to Rs 20 /- but lesser than Rs 20. hope you understood.

Vivek...option premium value is wrt to time gap from expiry...as expiry gets nearer ...the value goes down...

Your loss will be (6000 - premium received) per lot sold.

If you sell 4900 put :

Your gain will be the premium received per lot sold.
