The face value of old Sterlite share was Rs.2
Now,after split, it is Re.1.
Again, the company gave as bonus, one 1 rupee share for every 1 rupee share held.
Thus, the value of the share became one-fourth.

Hi shiva, I guess he might have purchased it on Jan or Feb 2006, since then there has been no split in the stock, but they have recommend divdend over the past 4 years, i.e
200903 125.00 1.25rs X 500 == 625
200803 125.00 1.25rs X 500 == 625
200703 100.00 1 rupee X 500 == 500
200603 83.33 83 paise X 500 == 415
Total dividend is 2165rs
Profit = 172-56=116X500= 58,000
Total = 58,000 + 2165 = 60,165
