Sunflag Iron & Steel catering to the defence
engineering, is not purely the steel company which is
making long and flat products. They are making value
added products for engineering, defence, auto ancillaries
etc. They have a capacity to produce 3.6 Lakh tonnes of
high quality special steel per annum in their Bhandara,
Maharashtra plant. Sunflag Iron & Steel is a FV10 stock
listed in NSE and BSE. Promoter holding of the company is
49.06%(constant from past few years), Book value 36.59,
EPS 3.08 and CMP only 40.45. Company has very negligible
debt of 100-150 compared to peers.
Things are looking positive for steel companies in India
now. Earlier this month (October 4th 2016) the ministry of
commerce had announced MIP continuation on 66 steel
products till December 4. It was first imposed in February
for six months and then extended till October 4, to curb the
flow of cheaper imports. This is defenitely a positive news
for steel industry as continuation of MIP for two months will
aid in further strengthening the domestic market. The price
of iron ore and the other related products like manganese
ore or ferro aloys etc are rising. In the coming months we
could see better demand for steel as China has stopped
dumping and moreover in the past 1.5 years, for the first
time India has turned an exporter in August and also we
saw a growth of 17%. This says the steel industry is quite
doing well now and we ve the MIP again extended till
December 4th 2016. A recent ISA report said domestic
demand was expected to grow 5.3 per cent in FY17 to 85.8
million tonnes, with higher consumption from the
construction and capital goods sectors.
