Hi usm, in options there are two types, call and put, when you are expect that price of underlying can increase then you can buy Call option and when you expect that price of underlying can decrease then you can go for Put option.
This was very layman kind of explanation, there are many factors that influence the price of options. Better Google it, you will find many informative topics on this. All the best :)
