Hi vasanth, For buying options no margin is required. You have to pay only the premium amount. For selling margin is blocked. The amount is roughly (strike price + premium)*lot size*10% for Nifty. This is only the initial margin blocked. This is adjusted everyday as per the closing prices. If the position goes against you, you have to keep cash in the account for MTM requirements. It is also broker dependent.

Hi CB, I failed to understand onething, when Market was trading around 4750, the market analyst was was giving target of 4500 to 4200 in comming days, and now when nifty has rallied almost 400 points, the analyst are giving target of 5300 - 5500 in comming days. What I understand with my little bit of experience buy when there is panic in market and sell when there is a euphoria.

One more thing that I have learned after loosing lot of money in options , never buy a option, always sell a option....There is 70% chance, even u are struck on wrong direction of option, we may well able to recover you sell price.

Hi Subhag Ghosh, yes, very true.. its best to go with technicals. nifty has strong short/ med term support at 4700-4750 levels and has again and again managed to hold onto it. on the upside strong resistance in the 5150-5180 zone. selling pressure could step in from here if unable to cross it
