    Hey CB/KB/SM
some hope for bears..the telegraph 19th feb 2012@
    Greece to Leave Euro
The German finance ministry is actively pushing for Greeceto declare itself bankrupt and to agree a “haircut” on the bulk of its debts held by banks, a move that would be classed as a default by financial markets.
Eurozone finance ministers meet on Monday to approve the next tranche of loans from the EU and the International Monetary Fund, designed to stave off nationalbankruptcy while the new Greek government puts the country’s finances in order.
But the severe austerity measures being demanded have caused such fury in Greece, and the cuts requiredare so deep, that Wolfgang Schäuble, the German financeminister, does not believe that any government would be able to implement them.
His pessimism has been tipped into despair with a secret European Commission,Central and IMF report that even if Greece made good on its promises, it would not be enough to reach the target of bringing total debt to 120 per cent of GDP by 2020....
i will hope for mkts to consider this and come down to 5400 lvls by expiry.
    ur thoughts r awaited

Hi DJ, Since you said "The Telegraph", I was frantically searching this news in todays "The Telegraph" published from Kolkata. Never found it. Then, the thought came that "The Telegraph" is also published from the UK. Saw the news there :)
Now, thats the thought of Schäuble. I feel, if Greece defaults on March 20 (as it has to pay somewhere around 14.5 billion Euro) or if Greece declares itself bankrupt before that, the situation can (or rather, will) be catastrophic. If so, then Greece will have no choice but to leave the Euro. Just think:
    i) what will happen to the unrealised payments?
ii) creditors will never accept an haircut on payments
iii) the much anticipated credit swap ( of something like 15 % cash and the rest with new 30 year maturity bond, with maybe anywhere between 3.5 to 4% coupon) will be given the boot. I feel a credit swap is needed where Greece gets valuable TIME (upto 30 years) to pull the economy up
iv) where will the GDP of Greece be? It will of course spiral down further
    v) "Drachma" is definitely not a solution. After all how will you calculate the value of Drachma? Purchasing Power Parity calculations will be difficult
vi) economic growth of Greece mainly depends on Shipping/Maritime industry and Tourism. With Greece leaving the Euro, where will the economy be?
    This list is endless
I do believe that, come whatever may, everybody concerned will try to keep Greece in the Eurozone. But if at all Greece leaves the Euro, one thing is for certain... Europe as a whole, will be in much much bigger problems than it is now.
I just shared my personal thoughts as you wanted :)
But DJ, why asking this on a Sunday??? Just chill and Enjoy your Sunday. On Tuesday and till expiry, markets are likely to fluctuate. Now it is up to us to trade accordingly :)
Soch na kya, jo bhi hoga dekha jaye ga
