Q: How are you reading the situation in the US because people don’t worry about India now-a-days, we just worry about what is going on in the US? You saw the jobs number on Friday, how do you read it for the second half for the US?
A: To give one data point, the total market cap of the world is USD 60 trillion. In our estimate, the foreign ownership, the institutional ownership is roughly USD 25-30 trillion around the world, we are only USD 250 billion of FII ownership. We contributed more than 100% to the world GDP growth rate in 2009. So the quantum of money, which can shift away from these markets to markets like India in due course of time, can be very large. And profit has no brother, sister, religion.
Q: Your friend Rakesh turned 50 and he said he sees the new high coming for the Nifty very soon. Do you agree with him?
A: I have been more bullish than he has been. I see much bigger highs in India. I do not know the time frame. He is a better predictor of time. I do not know whether we are going to see new highs in the next three-six months. Markets are leading much-much higher than where they are in due course of time.
