Coal India trades higher on the bourses Jan 04, 2012 Coal India (CIL) is currently trading at Rs. 328.40, up by 1.60 points or 0.49% from its previous closing of Rs. 326.80 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 328.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 330.55 and Rs. 327.40 respectively. So far 36,00 shares were traded on the counter.
The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 422.30 on 31-May-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 288.95 on 25-Feb-2011.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 330.55 and Rs. 297.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2,07,429.00 crore.
The promoters holding in the company stood at 90.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 7.89% and 2.11% respectively.
Coal India has received an approval for switching over of non-coking coal pricing from useful heat value (UHV) based grading system to gross caloric value (GCV) based classification with effect from January 01, 2012. The board at its meeting held on December 30, 2011 has approved for the same. Further, it is difficult to assess the exact impact as it will be based on the calorie value.
Recently, the company had received its board’s approval to acquire stakes in overseas unlisted firms for valid offers. The company’s board gave the approval to the issue in wake of finance ministry having granted approval last month to CIL to go-ahead with buyout of overseas firms that are unlisted.
Coal India is the largest coal producing company in the world. The company also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications. The 11 coalfields in which it conduct its most significant mining operations are the Korba, Singrauli, Talcher, IB Valley, Wardha Valley, Jharia, North Karanpura, Central India Coalfields, Raniganj, Rajmahal/Deogarh and East Bokaro coalfields.
