Greaves Cotton Limited, one of India’s leading engineering companies, today opened a state-of-the-art Technology Centre and a Plant to manufacture new generation G Series engines at Chinchwad, Pune. The facilities were inaugurated by Mr. Karan Thapar, Chairman of the Company.

The Technology Centre has modern facilities for designing and testing of engines. The testing facility is among the best in the industry and is equipped with emission measurement capabilities, integrated digital controls, conditioned air, fuel conditioning and water temperature control for testing engines upto 2 MW. It is also capable of testing gas engines.

The G Series Engines plant is equipped with the state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for the new generation 2, 3, 4 and 6 cylinder water cooled engines in 20 – 190 HP range.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Karan Thapar, Chairman said, “Greaves has always been in the forefront of diesel engine technology and with the launch of these two new facilities we are all set to establish new benchmarks in diesel engine performance.”

With the launch of G Series engines in the popular 1.1 litre per cylinder segment of the market, Greaves has acquired a competitive edge to achieve higher volumes. The compact and fuel-efficient engines, developed by in-house R&D, find a variety of applications like gensets, marine, forklifts, tractors, cranes, pumps, construction machinery, etc.
