YES BANK, Wageningen University & Research Centresign MoU

YES BANK, India’s new age private sector Bank, and Alterra B.V., Wageningen, a part of the Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), a leading knowledge institute based in Netherlands signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly serve stakeholders across the Food and Agribusiness value chain in India.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), YES BANK and Alterra will create integrated Agrofood parks that will transform the Indian agribusiness landscape developing Agro parks and agro logistic networks, together with third parties. Agro food parks are spatial clusters of agro production and processing & applying principles of industrial ecology. This will show the way towards a greener revolution for India and contribute to sustainable development by connecting the Urban and Rural areas.

Signing the MoU, Mr. Rana Kapoor, Founder/Managing Director & CEO, YES BANK said, “This alliance with Wageningen University and Research Centre is another step forward in our commitment towards the agriculture sector, which is one of the sunrise sectors of the economy. Be it our knowledge banking initiatives, advisory projects to various ministries & opportunities in Integrated Agro Food Parks, all form a part of our inherent commitment towards providing knowledge based banking solutions in the agricultural sector.” He further added, “This privileged partnership with WUR enables us to further enhance our product suite and offer more customized & holistic products to our clientele”.

Announcing the significant development, Mr. Kees Slingerland, Director General, Alterra, part of Wageningen University and Research Centre said, “Strategic alliance with YES BANK is in line with our mission, to improve the quality of life for mankind by means of sharing knowledge and providing scientific solutions, to issues related to agriculture and allied sectors. Introduction of ‘Agro Food Parks’ network concept in India in collaboration with YES BANK, provides us with one such opportunity.”

The strategic alliance will promote Indo-Dutch relations in the field of Agribusiness by setting up a knowledge cell to cater to various stakeholders and extend benefits to provide advisory services to various ministries and state governments in the agribusiness domain. Further, YES BANK will leverage WUR expertise to explore projects concerning water management, sustainable use of pesticides and nutrients, spatial planning and discussions on CDM.

This MOU symbolizes YES BANK’s long term strategy of sustainable banking and expansion in the food and agribusiness sector in India, thereby enabling the Bank to innovate and explore new avenues in the upcoming agro food parks domain.
