Israel may target Iran after embassy car attack
New Delhi: As tension mounts following Monday’s attack on an Israeli embassy car in New Delhi, Israel may hit Iran where it hurts the most, by targeting its oil and nuclear facilities. Israel may strike Iranian targets using its F-16 and F-15 fighters and bombers crossing the Iraqi airspace.
With Iran and Isarel separated by a distance exceeding more than 1,787 kms, Israel aircraft would have to be refuelled mid-air to successfully carry out the attack.
Israel is likely to target the nuclear reactor at Bushehr, the nuclear enrichment facility near Qom, the Natanz facility and others. As Iran’s nuclear facilities are underground, Israel would have to use its bunker-buster bombs that can penetrate several inches of concrete before exploding.
Commandos would also be dropped off by Israel boats to hit key coastal installations including ports and oil refineries, and cripple Iran’s economy.
Several western intelligence and military agencies including those belonging to the USA are already operating in the area and they can be used to launch an attack on Iran. Several of these assets are already close proximity of Iran, and some of them are based in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Israel and Iran have been at loggerheads for several decades and Jerusalem has already blamed Tehran for Monday’s strike. On the other hand Iran has claimed that the attack was carried out by Israeli intelligence agencies and the blame out on Tehran.
