Posted on: February 13th, 2009 and is filed under Brokerage Recommendations.

Networth Stock Broking has come out with its report on power equipment sector update. Additional mega watts plans will bring in huge opportunities for players like BHEL, L&T, Alstom, ABB, Siemens and others who have the required technology and execution skills.

Networth Stock Broking’s report on Power sector:

The 11th Plan feasible capacity addition of coal based plants includes 12 units based on super critical technology with a capacity of 8060 MW which is about 18% of total coal capacity planned for 11th Plan.

“More and more power projects based on super critical technology are under planning stage and they would yield benefit during the 12th Plan period. It is envisaged that more than 50-60% of capacity addition of thermal plants during 12th plan period would be based on super critical units. This would also help in reducing the Carbon dioxide emission from new coal fired capacity.”

“It is expected that the Government plans to order for 11 such units of 660 MW each totaling 7260 MW before the end of March 2009. As per our estimates, the total order size would be in the range of Rs 40000-45000 crs (USD 8-9 Bn).”

“As the orders are expected to be placed through international bidding, one of the leading private sector company is lobbying the Government that only those foreign players should be allowed to bid who have 51% stake in Indian JV and will have manufacturing facilities in India. This would bring in huge opportunities for players like BHEL, L&T, Alstom, ABB, Siemens and others who have the required technology and execution skills.”
